Prince Harry and Meghan Markle invited to the UK for Christmas by Princess Diana’s family as royals stay silent: report

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not been back in the UK for the festive season since the royal family’s gathering at Sandringham in 2018.

However, since quitting royal life in 2020 and moving to the US, Harry has stayed in close contact with his late mother’s side of the family, specifically his uncle Charles Spencer.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received an invitation to spend Christmas at Althorp House, according to a report.
“Charles [Spencer] has invited Harry, Meghan and the children to Althorp this Christmas,” a source told the Express. “It’s far too early to say whether they will take him up on it, but the offer is there if they want it.”

Should the Sussexes and their two children — Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet — decide to make the 5,396-mile journey from Montecito, Calif., to Althorp in England, it will be the first time the “Suits” alum has set foot on Harry’s soil since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.

What’s more, Harry and Meghan have not yet received an invitation from the royals for Christmas at Sandringham this year, but according to the insider, it’s unlikely that the duo would accept.

“There hasn’t been an invitation extended to Sandringham just yet, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be one forthcoming,” the source said.

“It would be highly unlikely if there was an invitation extended [to Sandringham] and I don’t think they [the Sussexes] would take them up on it anyway.”

The pair, who wed in 2018, have also been excluded from the Firm’s annual summer vacation at Balmoral in Scotland since quitting royal life.

It comes as the Invictus Games founder went into full incognito mode to attend his uncle Lord Robert Fellowes’ funeral last month.

Although both Harry and his estranged brother were in attendance at St. Mary’s Church in Snettisham, Norfolk, the feuding brothers sat separately.

The funeral marked the first time the feuding brothers were under the same roof since their father, King Charles’ coronation, in May 2023.

The father of two — who turns 40 this week — reportedly stayed with his uncle Charles Spencer at Althorp House during his blink-and-you’ll-miss-it trip.

The estate is his late mother’s final resting place.

The late Princess of Wales, who died at age 36 on Aug. 31, 1997, was laid to rest on the island in the middle of Round Oval Lake at Althorp.

Harry has maintained a close relationship with the Spencer family over the years.

According to sources, the pair have not yet received an invitation to spend Christmas with the Firm at Sandringham.

He met up with Diana’s brother Charles and sister Lady Jane Fellowes, 67, in May during the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games in London.

The duke was pictured hugging the pair as they arrived at St. Paul’s Cathedral for the event. However, Harry did not meet up with any members of the royal family during the three-day trip.
