An Australian female player has officially broken the WNBA record with an unbelievable match with performance and points better than the legendary Michael Jordan in the NBA about 20 years ago.

Elizabeth Cambage (aka Liz Cambage) will be the hottest name today for all basketball lovers.

The 2m03 tall Australian player has just officially broken the WNBA record with a game scoring 53 points, helping the Dallas Wings to a 104-87 victory over the New York Liberty. This is a number that perhaps hundreds of male players currently playing in the NBA dream of but still cannot achieve.

What’s more worth mentioning is that Liz Cambage’s record-breaking match had a scoring efficiency of up to 77% (17-22 FG) , along with 10 rebounds, 5 blocks and 94% FT (15-16 FT), all of which are huge numbers for the American women’s professional basketball league WNBA.

Liz Cambage’s performance in today’s match was phenomenal.

So what about NBA players? If you compare Liz Cambage’s performance to her male counterparts, no one has achieved these stats in over 20 years.

The last person to score over 50 points, 10 rebounds with 75% efficiency was  the legendary Michael Jordan , done in 1996.

The last person to do the same thing as Liz Cambage was the legendary Michael Jordan about 20 years ago.

The previous record for most points scored in a WNBA game was 51, set by Riquna Williams in 2013. Liz Cambage scored 53 points today, with the record-breaking score coming in the final minute of play on a 3-pointer.

Elizabeth Cambage is an Australian footballer. Although only 26 years old, Cambage’s playing career has spanned nearly 12 years.

The 7-foot-3 player was selected second overall in the 2011 WNBA Draft, behind WNBA superstar Maya Moore. However, she left the WNBA after her first two seasons.

Liz Cambage then won an Olympic bronze medal with the Australian team in 2012, played four years in China from 2012-2016, returned to Australia to play one year for the Melbourne Boomers before signing with the Dallas Wings last February, marking her return to the WNBA after many years of absence.

Currently with the Dallas Wings, Liz Cambage averages 19.9 points per game and was recently named to the 2018 WNBA All-Star team.
