Armed with a catalogue of great productions, both in terms of entertainment and fiction series, it is not surprising that Caracol Television has had a very positive Mipcom, with a lot of movement at its stand and non-stop meetings.

“We have had more than 50 meetings with clients,” Paloma García, director of International Sales for Europe and Africa of Caracol TV, summed up to ttvnews, listing the many countries that have shown interest in its content, from Spain, Greece, Italy, France or Poland in Europe, to the Ivory Coast, Republic of South Africa or Nigeria from the African continent.

All of them attracted by the group’s offer, which of course highlights its longest-running franchise: El Desafío.

“We are presenting our great franchise, El Desafío,” explained the executive. “We are celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The last edition that we broadcast on the Caracol TV channel was El Desafío XX, with amazing audience peaks.”

The format has spread notably in the international market. In this last year, listed the executive, adaptations have been made in Latam, both in Mexico with TV Azteca, and in the Hispanic US with Telemundo.

“And also in Europe we have advanced the franchise and local adaptations of El Desafío have been broadcast in Greece, Romania, and this year we are in the sixth season on Nova in Bulgaria, which we are going to renew next year because it is doing brutally,” said García.

“This helps us extend the franchise to other countries. We are delighted with how alive this franchise is,” she added.

In terms of entertainment, Caracol is also presenting La Descarga, a music talent show that, despite having been on the air for a short time, is already shaping up to be another big hit for the group.

“We also have other formats like La Descarga, which is a music talent show, which is in its second season on Caracol TV. The more seasons it has, the more confidence other countries will have in wanting to buy it,” he explained, adding that La Descarga “is already optioned in Spain and Portugal.”

On the fiction side, the group is presenting Klass 95, the series that premiered last August on Caracol TV, managing to position itself as the most watched series of the day in Colombia. According to figures from Kantar Ibope, Klass 95 reached a 44.2% share and 8.6 rating points, surpassing its main competitor.

It is an original story by Juana Uribe, based on some real-life events, with many fictional elements. Set in the 90s, it stars Nicole Santamaría and David Palacio.

Finally, the executive highlighted the great production, Escupiré sobre sus tumbas, a love story, framed in a devastating plan of revenge by Vinicio, a man with unbreakable purposes who, now, after the death of his brother, will be caught between his thirst for justice and his heart.

The series will be a great protagonist of the next South International Series Festival, which will be held from October 25 to 31 in Cádiz, and where Escupiré sobre sus tumbas will close the screening section with a great activation, which will also be attended by the producer, Asier Aguilar, and its protagonist, Cristian Gamero.
