Caitlin Clark celebrated her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery’s birthday on Saturday by sharing sweet photos of them together. The first-year WNBA star even wrote a heartfelt message for the now 26-year-old. Instead of getting a sweet response in return, however, McCaffery sent a hilarious jab at the Indiana Fever guard.

Clark began her post with an emotional note to McCaffery, saying, “Celebrating you is easy… Thankful to have someone as selfless and as loving as you in my life.” She then playfully added, “May this be the year you finally find a way to outshoot me.”

McCaffery, while expressing his appreciation with, “Love you forever,” couldn’t resist poking fun at Clark, responding, “And I’ll keep letting you win those shooting contests!!!!!”

McCaffery boasts a strong basketball pedigree, having played for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 2017 to 2023. During his college career, the 6-foot-6 guard averaged 4.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. His path crossed with Caitlin Clark’s as she dominated the NCAA landscape.

The couple made their relationship public in August 2023, sharing glimpses of their time together on various social media platforms. Clark, who shattered the NCAA’s all-time scoring record with an impressive 3,951 points over her four years at Iowa, transitioned to the WNBA as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft.

In her rookie season, Clark is averaging 16.8 points and 7.8 assists per game, leading all rookies in both categories. Despite McCaffery’s height advantage in a hypothetical one-on-one game, a shooting challenge might be a different story. The 22-year-old star has established herself as one of the best shooters in both men’s and women’s basketball.

While McCaffery’s confidence is notable, taking on a sharpshooter like Clark would be a formidable challenge.
