Kendrick Lamar Shares Second Drake Diss Track in One Week with Jack Antonoff-Produced ‘6:16 in LA’

The rapper dropped ‘Euphoria’ on Tuesday, April 30, which featured AI-generated vocals from Snoop Dogg and the late Tupac Shakur.

Kendrick Lamar isn’t done coming for Drake.

On Friday, May 3, the “Count Me Out” rapper, 36, shared a new diss track — his second in a week taking aim at the Canadian hip-hop artist, 37.

Lamar announced the track, titled “6:16 in LA,” with an Instagram Reel of a single black Maybach glove — a nod to Rick Ross who is the founder of the hip-hop label Maybach Music Group and entered the rap beef last week — and the caption: “6:16 in LA.”

The name in itself appears to take aim at Drake’s song title styles like “6PM in New York” from If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and “8am in Charlotte” from his recent album For All the Dogs.

“Have you ever thought that OVO was working for me? / Fake bully, I hate bullies / You must be a terrible person,” Lamar spews on the track, referencing Drake’s record label. “Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it / Can’t Toosie Slide up outta this one / It’s just gon’ resurface.”

The “Loyalty” musician’s namechecks the “Hotline Bling” artist’s 2020 track “Toosie Slide,” which he tried to turn into a TikTok dance challenge.

“6:16 in LA” was also notably produced by Sounwave and Jack Antonoff (per Genius), Taylor Swift’s longtime collaborator and friend, which appears to be an intentional move in response to Drake’s recent diss track “Taylor Made” and his proximity to the pop star.

Shortly after Lamar dropped “Euphoria” on Tuesday, April 30, Drake appeared to respond to the track by posting a clip to his Instagram Story from the 1999 rom-com 10 Things I Hate About You.

The video he posted featured one of the most famous scenes from the film where Julia Stiles’ character Kat a poem to her class sharing everything she hates about Heath Ledger’s Patrick.

“I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick — it even makes me rhyme! I hate it, I hate the way you’re always right,” she says.

At the end, she reveals she doesn’t really hate him at all. However, the “One Dance” performer cut the clip early and captioned it with wink and broken heart emojis.

The rap beef between Drake and Lamar really began taking off in March when he, Future and Metro Boomin released their collaboration “Like That,” but it was the Pulitzer Prize winner who took aim at the “Passionfruit” performer referencing his October 2023 song with J. Cole “First Person Shooter.”

Since then, hip-hop industry heavyweights — and even Uma Thurman — have become a part of the ongoing beef.
