Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever suffered a tough 89-8 4 loss to the Washington Mystics on Wednesday, despite showing promising form with two wins in their previous three games, including a victory over the top-ranked New York Liberty. Frustrations boiled over for the Fever during the game.

Clark expressed her frustration directly to a referee after being called for an offensive foul. Clearly aggravated, the rookie guard voiced her disagreement, telling the referee, “Don’t fall for that. No, you fell for that,” as reported by ESPN.

The foul occurred as Clark was setting up on a high ball screen with Aliyah Boston. While trying to create space, she made contact with Mystics guard Ariel Atkins, prompting the referee to call an offensive foul against Indiana’s point guard.

AsAside from Clark’s visible frustration, there were significant concerns surrounding Aliyah Boston’s foul trouble throughout the game. The 2023 WNBA No. 1 draft pick ended the match with five fouls, contributing six points and six rebounds.

Clark, on the other hand, delivered one of her standout performances of the season, tallying 29 points, 13 assists, and five rebounds.

The Fever faced challenges throughout the game, accumulating 21 fouls and trailing by as much as 22 points at one point. They struggled particularly in the paint, where Boston typically excels.

Clark expressed dissatisfaction with the officiating, a common reaction when a team faces difficulties on the court, insisting that the offensive foul call against her was incorrect.
